ARCADIS To Visit Iligan City

The UN-Habitat Philippines have been very active in giving assistance to Iligan City's efforts in responding to Typhoon Sending as the coordinator of the Shelter Cluster in Iligan City.

To be able to assist Iligan City in its search for a long term sustainable solution so that disasters such as those brought by Typhoon Sendong will be prevented, UN-Habitat partnered with ARCADIS, an international company that provides consultancy, design, engineering and management services in the fields of Infrastructure, Water, Environment and Buildings.



The ARCADIS technical team composed of five (5) experts from Netherlands and USA with specialization in the areas of environmental engineering, fluid mechanics and hydrology, architecture, waste water collection systems, ecology and urban planning.

The team will be in Iligan City on May 31, 2012 until June 4, 2012.  They will do an initial scoping visit to Bayug Island, Hinaplanon Proper, Upper Hinaplanon relocation site, Orchid Homes, Dalipuga relocation site, San Roque, Bonbonon, Digkilaan relocation site, Tambacan riverside, Tubod riverside, Mahayahay riverside, Sta. Elena relocation site, Ditucalan water source, Luinab relocation site and Mandulog relocation site.

The team's general scope of work will include assessment and recommendations for urban floodplain management and development planning in Sendong-affected urban areas as well as waste water management for settlements near water source.
